BUILDING CONNECTIONS

Our Tara School theme for the 2007-2008 academic year is “Building Connections”.

Our school-wide theme will develop and unfold as an applied strategy, where the discovery and development of vital relationships are realized as central to our learning process. Students and teachers will incorporate this strategy daily, as we explore ideas and environments together.

We will work to create new neural connections in our bodies, share connections between our prior knowledge and experience, make connections between content across the curriculum, foster connections between school and community, explore connections between local and global events and cultures, and hypothesize connections over space and time. As a new interpretation of the traditional “time-line” concept, we will produce graphic models that will take the shape of “Time Webs”.

We anticipate that this approach to instruction will benefit our collective learning environment by:

honoring the truth of our connectedness;

encouraging open-ended inquiry;

developing critical thinking skills; and

recognizing relationships as central to a life filled with meaning.

TARA EXTENSION AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Tara School is offering a vibrantly exciting after school program that will ignite the circuits of your child's highest potential. Choose one day, two days, or all week.

Our program includes Artist Guild, Puzzle Club, Literacy Circle, Science Club, Yoga, Drama, Dance, Story Tellers, Poetry Slam, Math Wizards and more. We are open to the community, you need not attend Tara School to take part.

We follow the Tara School calendar. There will be no after school care on the given holidays, in-services, and Parent-Teacher conferences.
